I thank you for the applied example on five whys and mainly the one pertinent to happiness. As we talk of emotional happiness WHY not talk on emotional five whys? I have recently published a presentation on slideshare that tackles the shortcoming of five whys and called for its extension to eight whys. I gave reasononig for this extension. The link is:

Does this work effectively in sales? It seems like this would be a great technique to diagnose problems that your products will solve.

The five "whys" are a powerful way to tease out root causes.

One of my mentors used it regularly and he got me in the habit of following the "why" chain until I got to an interesting and actionable insight.

Hi Sue, I'm glad you noticed that I haven't done the hard, fun and beautiful. I've been trying to be more focused on giving you more value. I feel like running through my issues every week seems a bit redundant. I think I'll try to do a monthly HF&B to talk about my issues, but not put too much emphasis on me. I want the emphasis to be on the readers issues. They are the reason I'm here. What did you think about the HF&B. Did it help you?

Hi Nadia, It's all about getting to the heart of the matter because once we do, we can actually solve the problem.

Hi Tess, Thank you so much for actually using the 5 whys to break down a problem. It's a pretty cool method. I can't wait to see what your new space looks like.

Hi Suzen, Fears can feel so real and painful, but most of the time they are silly if we take the chance to laugh at them. And when we can laugh at them we really create a chance for growth.

Hi Megan, We have to take a little time to step back and analyze our direction. The five whys are a great way to do this. Toastmasters was a huge help.
